Friday 24 March 2023 is National Ride2School Day Are you interested in getting your school involved in Ride2School Day? Join the 350,000 students will be riding, scooting, skating and walking!

Here are some tips on how to make it happen:
  1. Sign up for Ride2School Day: All you need is one person to be the point of contact on behalf of the school.
Register your school for free at: https://bicyclenetwork.com.au/rides-and-events/ride2school/ride2school-day
  2. Promote it in the school newsletter: Ask your school to promote Ride2School Day on 24 March in their newsletter. They could include the event in the school calendar and/or an image of the Ride2School poster. As
  3. Get parents and teachers involved: Contact the school P+C to ask if there are any other parents or teachers interested in helping out. The more volunteers, the better!
  4. Seek support from council or P+C: Ask your local council or P+C to ask if they will support Ride2School Day with a couple of boxes of fruit or a bike mechanic (about $300).
  5. Put up posters: Print A3 posters a week before Ride2School Day and put them on the school gate where parents can see them.
  6. Ask for volunteers: Ask a teacher if they can volunteer their class to help welcome students on the day.
  7. Invite local politicians: If any local politicians (councillors, or state politicians running for election) are interested, invite them to come along.
  8. Welcome kids and parents: On the day of Ride2School, welcome kids and parents at the school gates. If they’ve come by bike/scooter/foot, they get a free sticker (or fruit if you’ve got funding for this). Playing music on a portable speaker is also fun!
  9. Spread the word: This is a great opportunity to give them a Better Streets postcard!
  10. Take a survey: If you have enough help, take a survey of how many kids arrived by different modes, and upload the information to the Ride2School Day website.
  11. Share your story: Send in your story to Better Streets and inspire others to get involved in Ride2School Day!
By following these tips, you can help your school get involved in Ride2School Day and encourage more kids to ride or walk to school. Let's work together to create healthier, happier, and more sustainable communities!
